Goodbye house

This house officially is NOT MINE!  It is bittersweet- purchased Nov 20, 2008.  Sold July 15, 2013.  Lots of memories made between those dates, a lot good, and a few bad.  But now it is time for someone else to enjoy the house and make their own memories.

Since i am homeless until August 1st (again, thank you Erin for allowing us to stay with you over the next 15 days starting tomorrow......don't say i didn't warn you!!!), i resided at my parent's home over the weekend without the puppies.  They are at summer camp (aka the kennel).  But being at my parent's house means i get to FINALLY download the pictures my dad took from graduation- 1 month ago!
The 5 fellows- Rahul, Clay, me, Travis, and Matt

 Most of the fellows......(missing 4)

Graduating fellows and the attendings who molded and shaped us.  haha.

 Me and Tay

 Me and Brett

 Me and my dad

Me and Dr Silvestri

Can't believe it took 1 month to finally upload them!!

In other news, i am dying to cook- i miss my kitchen!!
I want to make:
These oyster sliders
This sesame ginger salmon
This lobster grilled cheese

YUMMMMMM!

Ok, i have now spent 7 hours watching NCIS.  LOL.  Love this RELAXING day!!  Back to the grind tomorrow!!

Chain of Fools

Chain of Fools is a song sang by Aretha Franklin, recorded in 1967.  My Calculus tutor in high school, Josie Sheatsley use to sing it to me when i was doing the chain rule for AP Calculus (she was home schooling me because, well, i was pregnant my senior year of high school....lol).
For those of you who don't remember, the chain rule is a formula for computing the derivative of the composition of two or more functions. That is, if f is a function and g is a function, then the chain rule expresses the derivative of the composite function fg in terms of the derivatives of f and g.
For example, the chain rule for (fg)(x) is

\frac {df}{dx} = \frac {df}{dg} \cdot \frac {dg}{dx}.

Yep, i am a total nerd.

But for about 10 years, i always thought she was singing "Change, Change, Change" (like change your answer because you are wrong) and it wasn't until i was in Residency when an attending and i had a discussion about that song and i realized i had the lyrics wrong, and i figured out it was "Chain of Fools" not "Change of Fools."  So for 10 years, when things were changing around me, i would sing "change, change, change," completely incorrectly but felt it was relevant to my life.

So for today, I am singing the song incorrectly, singing "change change change" as many different things are changing around me in my life.
1st off, the movers are here.  Loading POD #1 (of 2) up with as many boxes, furniture, etc as possible.

We will soon have an empty house that has been inspected by at least a 1/2 dozen people, cleaned, and ready to have a new owner.  I have bought her a bottle of champagne and toasting glasses to celebrate her 1st house.  So hopefully this happens!
Please say a prayer as closing is on Monday AM and i would LOVE for this to be over and done with!

Oh- and Tiberius HATES packing!!

2nd off, i have a new ride.
Here is my 2013 (but used) Honda CR-V that was officially mine on July 6, 2013.
This little beauty is fuel efficient, safe, and best of all, has air conditioning!  It is the perfect car to take me to and from Colleton Hospital in Walterboro.  The commute will be much better in this ride rather than the '93 Volvo.
:)

I am sure there are more changes that i can describe for you but i need to supervise these moving guys (come on dudes- don't leave the front door open the WHOLE time- you are letting in flies!!!!).
:)

Now everyone sing with me "change change change!"  I am totally embracing it!

I'm just not feeling it today....

....so i thought i would write a blog (since it has been a while) to let the creative juices flow and to just let me blow off some steam.
Why am i not feeling it today?
Well, I don't know if it is the constant rain we have been having in Charleston- i mean, rain, every day....downpours, then sun, then clouds, then downpours, then flooding, then sun, then more downpours.
today is day #2 of a continuous flash flood watch.......

Photo: Well it's flooding!!! emergencies only please

Or the fact that i feel like i am being drowned in a sea of boxes......
Closing day is July 15th.  Move in to our new house August 1st.
Trading this house...........................................................for this one........................

And for those 15 days that we will be homeless, my dear friend Erin has offered us (and the three pups) her home.  Let's see if she lets me call her a friend after we have spent those days with her.  While i know i am completely delightful (hehe), these puppies can be a HANDFUL!  I am sure i will bribe her with lots of wine!
:)

Or the fact that it is already July.  How did this happen?  Where did the past 6 months go?  Oh- and speaking of July, we all know that i love July 4th because that means i get to cook (and even though i will be moonlighting, i will be bringing delicious food for my co-workers)!
But, since i will be working and want to show some patriotism, i also decided to be patriotic with my nails and do this:
Final (1)

Well, i am not even going to show you what it actually looked like when i attempted it.  I might submit a picture to http://www.pinterestfail.com/ (yes, it was really that bad).  Lol.

For now, i am going to stick to what i am good at-cooking cupcakes and then decorating them like an American flag.  Lol.

Well, i might have gotten some inspiration to do some work, read, pack, clean, and all those other things i was dreading.......have a good day y'all!

How is it already June??

I will ask again. How is it already June?  Wasn't it just Christmas...or my birthday.....or Spring break?
But today is June 7th.  The 158th day of the year!

Lots has been happening in June.  1st off, given the bad luck with Tiberius and his prostate/UTI, we finally pulled the trigger.  He was neutered yesterday- and did well, but oh my goodness.  My heart breaks to see him weak and in pain.  I know it is for the best....but this is my love.  Pray for a speedy recovery!

Next order of business.
How do you say goodbye to family that moves??

Yes, my brother, Erika, and the two girls (Ava and Mya) packed their bags, two cars, and a LARGE moving van and took off for Columbus, Ohio, where my brother will complete a dentistry residency.  After that, Pediatric Dentistry fellowship in who knows where.......

It was horrible saying goodbye and knowing that i won't be able to hear Ava say "hi Auntie Wawa" or be able to bring them leftovers from the HUGE amount of food that i like to cook, or see Mya take her 1st steps, or that i won't be able to see Paul and Erika at family dinners and watch them grow as a couple.
I am totally bummed!!

3rd off-
The months of May/June are associated with graduations.  Paul graduated from Dental School last month and i "unofficially" graduate from my Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship this month.
The 5 graduates

These 4 guys, Rahul, Travis, Clay, and Matt have been my big brothers, my confidants, my support, my listening ears, my rocks, my teachers, and pretty much anything you can imagine.  We started in July 2010 and now, 36 months later, we are headed out into the world as attendings.  It means for us-  more responsibility, running our own practices, making our own decisions without having to check with a superior, and one big bonus, is that we do get a larger paycheck (but we earn it since we work more!)!!!

As for the graduation- we have a dinner on Saturday the 15th.
There aren't robes and diplomas.
Instead this is my :robe" aka my new dress: http://productshots3.modcloth.com/productshots/0111/5428/c5969726ed902a789d537bba879a48ac.jpg?1337202510 Isn't it cute?!?!
And i have a great pair of nude heels that i am going to wear with the dress.  :)

And instead of diplomas, parents send in pictures of the graduating fellows and one of my favorite attendings, makes a slide show of the pictures for each fellow.  Like these gems (hehe).  And yes, i can laugh at myself in the crochet shirt and perm.

AND as for the fellows, we are videotaping skits to make fun of our attendings.
yes we are cool --> <--me in a wig

AND one of my favorite things in the whole entire world....... i have made a "Call Me Maybe" video with the nurses/staff/administration at work in the Pulmonary Department and MICU.  I am so excited about it i can hardly stand it!!!  WHOOOO HOOOOOO!

Well, it is Friday afternoon and the week is coming to a close.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  Stay safe, have fun, and TTYL.
