Tuesday Things

1. 12-12-12
Today is 12-12-12, the last major numerical date using the Gregorian or Christian calendar for almost another century. The next time three numbers will align as they did on 9-9-09, 10-10-10 and 11-11-11 will be on Jan. 1, 3001, or 1-1-1.
Today, for some, represents luck. For others, it’s a day of romance. For most of us, it’s just another Wednesday. Regardless of your beliefs, 12/12/12 comes along with some rather amusing facts and superstitions.
Did you know that wedding bells will be ringing for about 7500 brides today?  A survey conducted by US-based David’s Bridal estimates that around 7,500 brides will be getting hitched in America – a 1,446 per cent increase from the less significant 12/12/11. The surge comes as no surprise, considering the sharp increases in marriages which took place on 11/11/11 and 10/10/10. Couples are keen to tie the knot on a day which they say symbolizes love....and since i am jaded and newly unmarried, i would like to remind them that 1/2 of marriages end in divorce.  That means 3,750 of those women will soon be joining www.match.com and www.eharmony.com with broken hearts sooner rather than later.

However, the day will be anything but joyful for others. Many doomsdayers believe 12/12/12 will be the end of the world, thanks to an interpretation of the Mayan calendar. But, most of the end-of-the-world believers are convinced that the actual doomsday is on 12/21/12, when the Mayan calendar is set to end. Do you think they were dyslexic?

Oh, and randomly December 12, 2012 is exactly 6 years, 6 months, 6 days from June 6, 2006, or 06/06/06.

Regardless of what you believe or how you choose to celebrate this date, enjoy it.  I think i might take 2 dollars and play the lottery.

2. Moving right along to the craziness in my life- otherwise known as the puppies- they have been full of trouble this week.
-the ornament count for Leia is around 24.  yes, she has eaten or destroyed 24 Christmas tree ornaments.  She actually threw up glitter last week.  Threw it up.  It was awesome.
-Tiberius has decided that we don't feed him enough (seriously? seriously?) and chewed through the bag of dog food and proceeded to eat about 1/10 of the entire bag.  His poor stomach was so full he looked like he was pregnant!  And all he wanted to do was drink water!  And i might have freaked out and thought he was going to die from bloat (yes, it is a real thing).....otherwise known as volvulus....and cried and worried and prayed.  He farted all night long and then i am assuming took a large dump (i don't watch so i can't confirm this) and wanted to eat all over again.  I swear.

3. Do you miss the 90's?  I do.  If you do, read this .
Hello # 2 and # 9.  Can i tell you how much i love TBS from 4pm-6pm, watching Friends re-runs?  I go into a slight depression when i am in the ICU and miss those two hours. <3

4. It has been a rough year- so.....

 So to sum it up-
I am playing the lottery today.  My dogs are crazy.  I love Friends re-runs.  There were parts of 2012 that were not so fun - 2013 will be BETTER!!!

Monday Memories

Ok so i had an extra hour or two this morning because apparently the puppies can't sleep past 5 am anymore.
:(

But it gave me a chance to go through my iPhone and ALL the songs on it (random shuffle, skipping the ones i have heard over and over again) and think about when i first heard the song and feel the memories i had attached to the song.  The songs and the artists......some still around but many just a memory..... it made me wonder "what happened to the music?"
Why are there no slow (aka romantic) songs like "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak or "Kiss from a rose" by Seal or even "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden?  Why do we think that Justin Bieber and Rihanna and Ke$ha are musicians?  I know i contribute to the situation by listening to the "Top 100" station and will admit that the music is a bit catchy.  And yes, i am still obsessed with "Call me maybe."  But what happened to the music?  And side note. Really? Really?  Who spells their name with a "$?"  Is that really necessary?

And expanding on that question, where are all the romantic movies?  Movies such as Say Anything, with Lloyd Dobler holding the boom box over his head to win back Diane Court or City of Angels with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage finding love in a most bizarre situation, are a thing of the past.  Instead we have Saw I, II, III, IV, V, VI, etc or Final Destination(s) or the movie Sinister, which i went with Taylor to see.  By the way, if you like scary movies- it will scare the PANTS off of you!  I had horrible dreams about Mr Boogie for weeks....and i didn't even watch most of the movie because my hands were covering my eyes!

Anyway, i realize this is a random post.  To end, i would like to share 4 of my favorite songs that i listened to this morning.  Songs that take me back to high school and college (mainly college).  Songs that i associate love, passion, adoration, and everything i ever wanted in the love department....lol.  Justin Bieber, eat your heart out.  And take notes.  This is how it is done!

Picture Update

This was going to be my Christmas card....but i realized i didn't have many people to send it to.....i guess that is what happens when you work all the time and have very few friends.  So for my 4 readers, this is my Christmas card to you.  Merry Christmas from Tiberius, Ellie, and Leia.

Ok, and how many of you love http://www.dogshaming.com/.
I can sit for hours and just laugh and laugh and laugh at the pictures.  It is better than autocorrect fail!
So here is my attempt at Dog Shaming....
"Hi, my name is Leia and i ate 8 Christmas Ornaments today."*
* 12/02/12
Please note the * because after that date, 13 more ornaments have lost their lives.  And this is AFTER we put the tree on the table.

Oh, and which dog do you think did this?  Tiberius or Leia?  Or both?
It just so happens that this morning i was taking a nap and snuggling with Ellie and after i woke up, i went downstairs and  found this. And don't you love the dirt that is under the couch?  UGH!

And this is proof that doctors DO have fun.  hehehehe.
Love my happy hours with my girls.  :)

And since they already announced it on Facebook, i can share the news with you.....
I'm going to be an aunt again!
And it is another girl!
Congrats to my brother Paul and his wife Erika.  And of course the sweet older sister Ava.

Well, that is it for my picture update.  I wish i took more pictures and i wish i did more things to take pictures of!!  :)

What happened to November?

I swear to you that we just got back from Florida and Taylor's 16th birthday celebration....or at least it feels like we did.  But that was weeks ago and now November is almost over and Christmas decorations are going up, presents are being purchased, and parties are being held.

A few things:

1) Notice anything different?
To add another present to the pile Taylor got (just from me bc apparently the Lambert family are slackers with presents), i let Tay get her nose pierced.  Piercing and tattoos don't bother me (obviously...hello, i have 7 tattoos!) but it does bother my extended family because we came into the world without metal or ink on our bodies and that is how we should leave.  But her piercing is small, tasteful, and age appropriate.  I give it two thumbs up....and despite what ENT docs will say, i am not worried about her developing Meningitis from an infection in her nose that will extend into her brain.

2) I don't get Elf on the shelf.  Of course my child is 16 and the Santa jig is way up.  But this lady's blog is spot on.  So funny.

3) Did you know that Boy Meets World is having a spin off on the Disney Channel?   This is HUGE news for those of you who loved Cory and Topanga!  Apparently Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel – who starred as the fictional couple on the '90s hit series Boy Meets World – are reuniting for a pilot episode of Girl Meets World.  I seriously can't wait.

Well that is it for now.  Hope everyone is well and staying warm.  I know i am.

I love it when Taylor says......

"You know what would go really great with this dinner????"

"Butterbeer!"

So i look online and try to figure out how to make it...lots of website with "copycat" recipes....

like this one: http://www.bakingdom.com/2012/07/frozen-butterbeer.html
and this one: http://www.cooklikeachampionblog.com/2010/11/frozen-butterbeer-for-the-deathly-hallows-premiere.html

basically you need:
cream soda
heavy cream
butterscotch schnapps (if you want to make it "adult" friendly)
butterscotch sauce to taste.

so that is what we are doing this weekend (besides eating turkey and the "Lambert" family grits)..... we are going to make butterbeer!  yum!

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

We are home!

Made it safe and sound back to Charleston tonight! And boy, what a great day to leave! The weather was rainy and it was cold. The past 4 days were sunny and high in the 80's.

Anyway, lots to catch you up on. But this is what you missed today, which is Taylor's actual birthday!

Hehehe
Love the sleeping in the car photos.

Vacation exhaustion

Day #4 of vacation at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
I have been too busy/tired/exhausted to update the blog with pictures.
I am going to need a vacation from my vacation. Go figure.

Day#1 was Friday and we made it to Orlando and our hotel and looked around.
Day #2 (saturday) was Islands of Adventure for most of the day, then relaxed by the pool, and then dinner. Oh, and guess who all were in bed by 9:30. That's right. We were. This walking around and standing in loooong lines is exhausting.
Anyway, I can't complain. It is awesome!
Here are some pics....
