Puppy Adventures....

Well, we have had Leia for two whole weeks.  Two weeks of adjusting to a new "baby."  Changing my morning routines, changing how we feed the other two dogs and what we leave out (RIP two pairs of flip flops).  And we have learned a lot.

We have learned to close the door to the bathroom.....because she likes to eat trash.....

And we have learned that she and Tiberius get along great and like to play (they are playing here, not fighting).....

.......and they also sleep well together too.....

And maybe sometimes i think that she might be possessed by the devil because while we are crate training her and she doesn't have accidents at night, when we are home during the day.....man oh man.  She pees all the time!

But seriously?  Isn't she soooo cute??!?!?!?

Oh- and Vet update:
She is 18 lbs (projected to be 70-80 lbs)
She got shots and de-worming meds.
And all the vet techs go crazy for her because she is soooo cute.  :)

And no fear....that is what Leia has.  She pushes right in with the "big boy."  And while Tiberius does growl (really because he is a food and water whore), he wouldn't ever bite her.

Random post

I was told that I hadn't written a blog in a long time (7 days is not that long)....so instead of an email to my sweetie, i told him I would write a blog post......

....but really I don't have much to say or to inform y'all about. *yawn*

I've been spending my week days in the MICU, which i love.  I have a fantastic team and a great attending and of course the nurses, RT and techs are amazing.  If i had to do a month in the MICU, i am glad i got to do this one.....of course i am still a bit bitter since this was suppose to be a research month and i was to have vacation.  WAAHHHHH!  But don't worry.   Taylor's 16th birthday trip will be here soon enough....and Florida, here we come!
I also currently spend my weekends at the VA ER or at the house cooking/cleaning/reading for Pulmonary boards/sleeping/hottubing or an assortment of other random things.  I will have to say that gone are the days of my trashy magazines.  Yes, i will look at www.people.com every once in a while but most of the time i am reading this.......  ...........................................I'm trying to learn while i still can.


Anyway, not much else to report.  My life is on repeat.  It goes: sleep, wake-up, eat, work, eat, kiss brett and play with the puppies and hang with taylor, eat, and then sleep again.

1st off, here are the new best friends. Ti and Leia. Leia does everything that Ti does (although with more of an attitude) and they play together really well. I'm gonna try to see if i can get a video of them chasing each other around the kitchen. Adorable I tell you.

Even more adorable is my niece, Ava. She is talking and walking up a storm. I would like to say a sarcastic "thank you" for giving me conjunctivitis and now i have to wear my ugly glasses this weekend. Booo.

Tiberius loves yoga by the way.....actually, not true. He just loves to be lazy. This yoga mat just provides an additional space for him to lay down.

And here is my princess Leia in her halloween costume. Brett hates that i dress her up like a "girly dog" but i love it. How cute is her sparkle outfit!?! :)

I am not sure what possessed us to get ANOTHER dog....another addition to our crazy 2 doctor, 2 dog, almost 16 year old who likes to take out mailboxes with MY car, life, but we did........... it is better than a baby, right?

I misspoke

Yes, I misspoke.   Approx 4 months ago, I wrote a blog where i 1) wished my mom a happy birthday and 2) said a heartfelt goodbye to the MICU because I wouldn't be back during my third year due to scheduling and the increased number of fellows.  Well....i misspoke....it is better than saying i lied (which is not the case here)....and i'm back baby!

You see, I had fully planned on no MICU month this year.  And while i love the MICU, i had resolved the fact that out of the five 3rd years, it would be best for me to not work there because that way, i wouldn't have to leave Taylor at home by herself during the 2 weeks of nights.  So when the schedule was made in April, with the knowledge that there would be 15 fellows, i gracefully bowed out of the MICU rotation (i had other ICU months anyway) and then said my goodbyes in May when i did my last (or what i thought would be my last) rotation. 

But i spoke too soon.  And in July, one of our first year fellows wasn't able to start fellowship, and the schedule we had made for 15 fellows was no longer valid.....there was only 14.  So we scrambled to get all of his rotations covered and in the end, all of the 1st year fellows got extra calls and all of the 2nd and 3rd year fellows got a 1/2 month extra ICU rotation.  Except for me....and i inherited his entire MICU month of October.  In the end, in order not to cause total chaos and have to redo the entire schedule, i was the only fellow that didn't have obligations (ie another ICU, wards, or studying for pulm boards) for that month and it made sense for me to take it.  I was slightly bitter since i had planned on taking vacation (OUR 1st vacation ever) and i was also going to take time off for a friend's wedding since Karen would be in town (whoo hoo!)and was going to stay with me.  And yes, i will admit that as i started my night float tonight (1st 2 weeks are on nights, last 2 weeks are on days), i silently cursed this guy for not doing what he could to join the fellowship and ruining my fun October plans.....not to mention making the rest of the fellows take additional calls and cover his rotations!  Blast him!!!

My slight bitterness gave way to familiarity and enjoyment (as much as one can enjoy the ICU i guess) as i was greated in the MICU by friendly faces and smiles and people saying "you're back! YEA!"  And the bitterness i had slowly went away as i got checkout, learned patients, and got hugs from nurses........until a patient's family member told me that we would have to call security on them if i took out the patient's IV.  seriously??  SERIOUSLY??  1st night in the ICU and i already get threatened?!?!?!

I had to laugh.......you gotta love that......but this is what i know......i'm home.

I can't believe I just wrote this blog and wasted time on you fools

Dear Celebrities,
I am taking a few minutes out of my busy work day to write you a letter.  I am sure you have heard what I am about to say before, but I think it is worth repeating.  And if you forget and mess up, re-read this letter.

For the love of all things holy, please keep your privates covered and your clothes on.  Did you really think, Princess Kate, that you would have no photogs following you on your honeymoon?  Did you REALLY think it was wise to sunbathe without your top on?  Yes, I realize you have the freedom to do these things and it is inappropriate for people to take pictures of you, but COME ON.  Keep your top on.  You are a Princess.  Your actions are viewed by the entire world, and oh, by the way, every young girl wishes she could be you and every 20-something girl wishes she could have your wardrobe.  You are in the public eye.  Again, keep it covered up.
Oh, and since I am talking about the Royals, can you tell your brother-in-law Harry, to keep his clothes on too?  The saying "what happens in vegas stays in vegas" IS A LIE.  While i appreciate the "cupping" of his privates or of his friend's boobs, it would behoove them to realize that their every move is being watched too.  Please, please keep covered!

And Kanye, a sex tape?  Really?  Did your girlfriend Kim Kardashian not teach you anything?  I realize that you are an attention whore and your new single dropped last week, and you could be pulling this "stunt" so you can get more sales.......but if your computer was really hacked and your private tapes were stolen, then that is your own fault.  You are really dumb if you think a sex tape can be safely stored on a computer.  And I will say this to you and to all other celebrities who have tapes (Kim, Paris, Pam, J Lo, Carley Ray Jepsen (!!?!), Dustin Diamond.....ewww)- STOP filming yourself in bed with someone and then keeping the evidence where people can find it/steal it.  What happens in the bedroom, or boat, or pool, or farm....please keep it there and keep it to yourself.

Mother/daughter date

Do you love groupons as much as I do?  

Ok, actually i love groupon, living social, and then all of those fashion websites where you can get great deals (Hautelook, RueLaLa, Totsy, Ideeli).

I am pretty sure the only shopping i do in person is grocery shopping.  

All of my clothes and home goods i get online.....but i do have to admit that since my financial situation has been rocked, my online shopping has been thwarted.  It is utterly depressing.

Anyway, I got a groupon for Wine and Design in West Ashley about two months ago and while it is a fun "date" place, i decided to take Taylor for a little mother/daughter time.

I let Taylor pick whatever class she wanted......and about once a month they have a "paint your pet" class, which we figured would be perfect for us!  And even though i had done the class before when i painted a picture of Ti (with Jana about 2 years ago...so fun!), we figured that Taylor could do a pic of Ellie and that i would do a pic of both of the dogs.

Here is Taylor's picture that she chose.....look at what a cute puppy Ellie was!!

And here is my picture......Ellie and Ti in all of their glory.  :)

The class was about 3.5 hours long.   I brought sushi and cheese and crackers to snack on.  And some wine (for me) and some Arizona tea for Tay.  I will have to admit that yes, it was a very "couple-y" class.  6 couples in total, Taylor and i were the only ones not married/dating.  Apparently it is a popular date night activity.  And of course Tay had to point that out...."thanks for taking me to a place for couples only."

By the way, it is REALLY hard to paint a black dog bc when you try to make different shades of black, they turn grey.  I think Tay did a great job though with Ellie.
